Nate Ahearn is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Torbay Hospital. His practice encompasses general orthopaedic trauma, with an interest in periarticular and periprosthetic fractures around the knee, and an elective practice focused exclusively in all aspects of knee surgery balancing a predominantly soft tissue and arthroplasty practice. He is a keen trainer with an interest in medical education and is a member of the Academy of Medical Educators. He also has a role as a BOA Culture and Diversity champion and works with Melanin Medics as a Lewin programme ambassador. After medical school at Imperial College, he completed surgical training in the Severn Deanery and enjoys maximising the outdoor lifestyle and work life balance achieved by living in the South West.

I am Vishal Chandanani and I have just graduated medical school from the University of Central Lancashire and a current Foundation Doctor in University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. Consultant Orthopaedic Foot Ankle Surgeon, Lister Hospital East & North Herts NHS Trust
Mr Deol is a highly experienced, fellowship-trained, Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in Foot & Ankle Surgery with a particular focus on Sports injuries, Trauma and Deformity correction.
Having studied Medicine at King’s College London, he completed his basic surgical training then gained experience in the Foot & Ankle unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. He undertook his higher specialist training in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery on the prestigious London North-West Thames programme working at leading centres including Charing Cross Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital. He has undertaken advanced fellowship training in Foot & Ankle surgery with a focus on sports-related injuries and the latest arthroscopic techniques, at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. He has also undertaken travelling fellowships to Holland and to world-leading trauma units in the USA.
Mr Deol was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the East & North Herts NHS Trust (Lister/QEII Hospitals) in 2011 where he has developed the Foot & Ankle service into a 4-consultant unit with a senior Foot & Ankle fellowship programme. His work in the trust has been recognised with Clinic Excellence Awards.
He is involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and is responsible for specialist trainees in Trauma & Orthopaedic from the London and East of England regions. He has been faculty and lecturer on courses and has been on interview panels for undergraduate medicine entry for Imperial College and national higher surgical training entry.
Mr Deol has published research work, written book chapters on Foot & Ankle disorders and presented both nationally and internationally. He has been awarded an MSc in Surgical Sciences and Diploma from Imperial College London. He is past Chair of the SICOT (Societe Internationale de Chirugie Orthopedique et de Traumatologie) Foot & Ankle Committee and has been invited to lecture around the world.

Seb Ho is a Trauma & Orthopaedic Specialty Registrar on the East of England rotation. He trained at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine in 2015 before undertaking his Core Surgical training at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and then commencing higher surgical training on the East of England rotation.
He has developed a keen interest in complex trauma and adult limb reconstruction surgery, and has attended training courses in trauma surgery both in the UK and overseas to further develop his surgical and decision-making skills further.
His other main interest lies in further medical education and is dedicated to enhancing training from a medical student to higher surgical training level. He earned his Masters in Medical Education with University College London in 2023, co-founded the international, award-winning ‘Fundamentals of Orthopaedics’ education group in 2021, and continues to deliver teaching for the Royal College of Surgeons of England as an ATLS, BSS and CCrISP instructor, as well as medical student teaching for BOMSA and AMSA-UK.
He is a strong advocate for well-being and training of fellow surgical trainees, and has served on the Rotation’s trainee committee for the last 2 years, as well as being the STC Rep for the East of England Rotation for BOTA over the last year.
ST7 T&O, Paediatric Spinal Deformity Research Fellow, PhD Student, Sheffield Children’s Hospital
Rav is an ST7 T&O trainees on the Sheffield rotation. He was the first appointed NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Tr&O in South Yorkshire. He has worked in multiple areas of the University of Sheffield, most recently at ScHARR as a PhD student and a Co-Applicant on an NIHR RCT. He is aspiring to be fellowship trained in adult and paediatric spinal surgery, and has been appointed as one of the Brisbane Spinal Fellows for 2026.

Mr Jeyaseelan is passionate about helping patients suffering with pain and disability caused by foot and ankle (F&A) conditions. In her role as the Regional Committees Lead on the British Orthopaedic Medical Students Association (BOMSA), she collaborates with regional representatives at each university to organise nationwide orthopaedic events aimed at inspiring the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons. These events provide valuable opportunities for medical students and foundation doctors to explore the field, gain hands-on experience, and connect with professionals and mentors in orthopaedic surgery. Harry Benjamin-Laing is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon. He is the founder and creator of Orthom8, A YouTube channel that produces animated education in Orthopaedics. Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital
Anish has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, with an exclusively paediatric practice, for over 10 years. His clinical work includes special interests in the management of limb deformity and skeletal dysplasia.
He is currently a member of the Education Committee of the British Society of Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery, and faculty for the AO Paediatric Trauma group. He has recently been elected to the Board of The British Society for Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery.
In addition to his clinical work, he has a longstanding interest in Medical Education, at both under- and postgraduate levels. He has completed a Masters in Surgical Education with Distinction. He regularly teaches and assesses for Norwich Medical School. He has organised a number of regional and national educational events in Paediatric Orthopaedics, and has been invited faculty at a number of courses and national meetings.

Chloe Scott is a consultant hip, knee & trauma surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and an NHS Research Scotland Clinician. Her research interests include arthroplasty outcomes, periprosthetic fractures, robotic surgery, finite element analysis and knee biomechanics. I am an ST8 Registrar currently based at Addenbrooke's Cambridge University Hospital and have a subspecialist interest in upper limb particularly hand and wrist surgery. I am passionate about medical education, diversity, improving working culture, the patient and training experience. I've been fortunate enough to be part of the East of England Trainee Committee (including recently elected Chair and CTOC Secretary), British Orthopaedic Trainee Association (including as Vice President), on JCST and ISCP committees and as a founding member of the BOA & BOTA C&D Programme. I hope to encourage other juniors and medical students to consider pursuing a career in Orthopaedics as it is a welcoming, exciting and fantastic speciality.

Shreya is fellowship trained spinal surgeon with a busy clinical practice in adult trauma, tumour, and paediatric deformity. She is one of few female surgeon members of BSS and has keen interest to be a surgeon educator. She is actively involved in training surgeons of the future and believes its important they see “someone like you” and is a strong advocate of mentorship. She works in an increasingly diverse surgical profession but wants to work towards a creating an equitable workplace inside and outside the operating room.
Dr. Kelly de Stadler is a Foundation Year 2 doctor currently based in Bath at the Royal United Hospital. Whilst at Imperial College London, her passion for orthopaedics took off during her third year after attending the LUOS conference and has only grown since. She’s been involved with the British Orthopaedic Medical Students’ Association (BOMSA) since it was founded and has attended plenty of orthopaedic conferences and workshops as well as getting involved with many teaching opportunities.
Recently, Kelly decided to shift to a less-than-full-time role, giving her more flexibility to build her portfolio, teach, and focus on her personal growth. She’s passionate about orthopaedics and loves sharing that enthusiasm with students who are just as curious about the field. She is especially interested in paediatric orthopaedics as a subspecialty due to its rewarding and interesting work as well as broad scope of practice.
When she’s not working, Kelly enjoys staying active, spending time with friends and family, and mainly traveling whenever and wherever she can. Her most recent travels were to Africa for a month at the end of her FY1 as the first time returning since she moved from South Africa in 2011 and is considering an F3 year here!
Final year medical student, University of Leicester
Vasavi is a final year medical student at the University of Leicester and holds an MRes in Health Sciences Research (Hons) from the University of Bristol. For the past three years, Vasavi has been involved with BOMSA, as a university representative in the inaugural BOMSA Midlands Committee (2021/22), and Regional Committees Lead (2022/23) and Mentorship and Diversity Lead (2023/24) on the BOMSA National Committee. Within her current role, she has established the first national orthopaedic mentorship scheme for medical students, engaging over 400 orthopaedic surgeons and medical students.
Her passion for Trauma and Orthopaedics is demonstrated through her involvement in organising both regional and national orthopaedic conferences and teaching sessions. Additionally, her MRes research project, titled "Gelatin Granular Hydrogels to Support Osteogenesis," underscores her deep interest in Orthopaedic science and research. Vasavi is passionate about advocating for inclusivity within the field and helping students overcome barriers to pursuing Orthopaedics as a viable career path.

Hussein is an orthopaedic surgeon with Fellowship training in Complex Arthroplasty, Revision Hip surgery, Pelvic and Acetabular surgery, Major trauma and Periprosthetic fractures. He is particularly interested in how arthroplasty solutions can play a role in complex trauma, including fix and replace for acetabular fractures.
He trained on the East of England rotation and has done Fellowships at the Royal London and Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He is interested in education and has been faculty on FRCS courses as well as organising regional registrar teaching.

Elizabeth Tissingh is an orthopaedic surgeon (limb reconstruction and bone infection) at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore. She qualified in 2008 from King’s College London and has an MSc in Tropical Medicine and International Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She leads King’s Global Health Partnerships’ work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, is on the global technical advisory group for the Primary Trauma Care Foundation and leads the African Bone and Joint Infection Network. She is committed to the delivery of excellent surgical care in the NHS and to improving access to safe, timely and affordable surgery in areas of the world where it is most needed.

Saima is currently an ST5 working at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. She completed medical school at the University of Southampton, before completing foundation and core training in South Thames and East of England. She has a keen interest in upper limb, and is commencing an MSc in medical education at the University of Oxford. Outside of work, she enjoys running, sport and spending time with friends and family.
