Robert Trousdale
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon , Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA
Rob Trousdale is professor and previous head of adult reconstruction at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He did his residency training at Mayo Clinic and spent 6 months in 1992 with Professor Ganz in Berne. He was a previous ABC traveling fellow, is an active member of international hip society, north American hip society, AAOS and AAHKS. He has been in practice in since 1992 with focus on hip dysplasia, hip osteotomies and complex primary and revision THA. He has had an academic focus on clinical outcomes after hip surgery and has been awarded multiple hip society, AAOS and AAHKS awards. He is honored to be the 2024 invited Charnley lecture.

Caroline Blakey
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Specialist in Paediatric Orthopaedics and Young Adult Hip Surgeon, Sheffield Children's Hospital Foundation Trust, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Trust
Miss Blakey is an Orthopaedic Consultant at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. She trained in Edinburgh and London before beginning her higher surgical training in Sheffield. Having completed fellowships in Melbourne, at both the Royal Children's Hospital, and with John O'Donnell at Hip Arthroscopy Australia, she returned to Sheffield for a further six months of training in hip preservation surgery. She joined as a consultant in 2019. Miss Blakey's practice includes management of the paediatric and young adult hip, including periacetabular surgery, safe surgical dislocation and hip arthroscopy. Her adult practice is in the Doncaster and Bassetlaw hospitals NHS trust.

Barry Davison
Physiotherapist, Hip Preservation ESP, NHCT, Northumbria, Northumbria Healthcare
Barry works as an extended scope physiotherapist working in specialist spine and hip orthopaedic clinics at Northumbria Healthcare NHS trust. His clinics involve seeing both new and review cases with application of clinical assessment and diagnostic work up. Another element of these clinics involve reviewing post operative patients and guiding their rehabilitation journey.
He has extensive experience having worked across multiple areas of musculoskeletal practice including professional sport. His specialist area of interest is young adult hip pathology, specifically dysplasia. This has resulted in his project of developing a young adult hip clinical pathway, patient education resources and MDT training programme. He is a member of the British hip society, ISHA and BASS.

Lucie Gosling

Lucie is a Consultant Physiotherapist at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham. She specialises in assessment, management and treatment of young adult hip pain. She set up the UK Hip Physio Network with colleagues at Stanmore and Exeter and co-leads this, bringing together Physiotherapy expertise across the UK. She was awarded the British Hip Society Non-Surgical Travelling Fellowship in 2023.

Jonathan Hutt
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, University College London
Jonathan is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Specialist Hip Surgeon who specialises in all aspects of hip surgery.
He studied medicine at New College, Oxford and Imperial College before completing his orthopaedic training in London. This was followed by fellowship training in lower limb reconstruction at the Université de Montréal in Canada and in young adult hip surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. In 2022 he was awarded the prestigious Rothman-Ranawat travelling fellowship by the American Hip Society.
His specialist interests are in all forms of hip surgery. He is experienced in advanced joint preservation techniques such as minimally invasive periacetabular osteotomy and hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) as well as hip reconstruction for other causes of hip pain in young patients.
When preservation of the joint is not possible, he is experienced in hip replacement using both the direct anterior (DAA) and posterior approaches to the hip.
He has a particular interest in young patients with hip problems and joint replacement in active individuals. He is involved in innovation and research in advanced hip preservation techniques as well as emerging hip replacement technology and implants to improve patient outcomes.
