Naadir Nazar
Core Surgical Trainee, BOMSA President, Barts NHS Trust
Dr. Naadir Nazar is an incoming Core Surgical Trainee at the Barts NHS Trust. He graduated from the University of Bristol Medical school with an MBChB and an intercalated BSc in Functional and Clinical Anatomy with honors.
Over the past three years, Dr. Nazar has played a pivotal role in the British Orthopaedic Medical Students Association (BOMSA), currently serving as President after previously holding the position of Vice President and initially Co-founding the organisation in 2021. During this time, BOMSA has grown into one of the largest organisations for medical students and foundation doctors in the UK, hosting over 200 events regionally and nationally to help increase access to orthopaedics for medical students, initiating the first orthopaedic research grant for medical students and establishing the first national orthopaedic mentoring program for medical students in the country. In addition to his work with BOMSA, Dr. Nazar has been actively involved in national orthopaedic education and training initiatives.
He previously served on the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association (BOTA) National Committee and is currently a member of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Education & Careers Committee. His commitment to medical education is further demonstrated by his completion of a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. Dr. Nazar has a strong passion for Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery, with a significant track record in research and education. He has been published in peer-reviewed journals, presented his work at national conferences, and has organized national and international teaching series and conferences.

Nihal Sogandji

I am a final year medical student and hold a BA in Mechanical and Bioengineering. I am interested in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery as a future career and this year I was the regional lead for BOMSA East.

Vasavi Tadikamalla
Final year medical student, University of Leicester
Vasavi is a final year medical student at the University of Leicester and holds an MRes in Health Sciences Research (Hons) from the University of Bristol. For the past three years, Vasavi has been involved with BOMSA, as a university representative in the inaugural BOMSA Midlands Committee (2021/22), and Regional Committees Lead (2022/23) and Mentorship and Diversity Lead (2023/24) on the BOMSA National Committee. Within her current role, she has established the first national orthopaedic mentorship scheme for medical students, engaging over 400 orthopaedic surgeons and medical students.
Her passion for Trauma and Orthopaedics is demonstrated through her involvement in organising both regional and national orthopaedic conferences and teaching sessions. Additionally, her MRes research project, titled "Gelatin Granular Hydrogels to Support Osteogenesis," underscores her deep interest in Orthopaedic science and research. Vasavi is passionate about advocating for inclusivity within the field and helping students overcome barriers to pursuing Orthopaedics as a viable career path.
