The two themes selected for the BOFAS Foot Ankle Trauma Revalidation this year are to help On call Consultants to deal with Foot Ankle emergency trauma and Trauma consultants to help with day to day management of ankle fractures:
A) On call nightmare (Talus fracture dislocation, Displaced tongue type calcaneal fracture, Displaced Lisfranc injury)
B) Ankle Fractures- Getting it right (Stable versus unstable ankle fractures, Ankle fractures in Diabetics, Ankle fractures – avoiding mistakes).

Raju Singh Ahluwalia is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon, and a holder of the Hunterian Professorship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2022-3). This is considered to be one of the proudest honours of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. The Professorship is named after the pioneering surgeon scientist, John Hunter, and is awarded annually for original research of surgical innovations. He follows in the long line of surgeons as such as Joseph Lister, Percival Pott and Paget, and Loard Darzi to be given this honor. His work was carefully considered by an expert committee and Prof Ahluwalia received the accolade for pioneering work in the field of diabetic foot surgery and clinical decision making undertaken at King's College Hospital, London, and the King's Diabetic Foot Unit.Consultant Orthopaedic Foot Ankle Surgeon, University Hospitals Leicester
Maneesh Bhatia is a senior Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon at the University Hospitals of Leicester. He enjoys teaching and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester. He is the founder and director of British European Foot Ankle Academy (BEOFAA) that aims at educating young orthopaedic surgeons globally. He is passionate about foot and ankle research and education and plays a very active role as a committee member of the Scientific Committee of the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS) and the Education Committee of the British Foot Ankle Society (BOFAS). He has written three books in the fields of foot and ankle surgery, joint injections and primary care Orthopaedic education that have been translated into international languages. One of these books won the prestigious BMA best book award in 2021.

Verity trained in Bristol as far as fellowships, which were in Windsor and King’s College Hospital. She has been a consultant in Luton and Dunstable Hospital since 2016. Mr Jeyaseelan is passionate about helping patients suffering with pain and disability caused by foot and ankle (F&A) conditions. He is an experienced, fellowship trained Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary University London (QMUL). He specialises in all aspects of F&A care including complex trauma, deformity correction, minimally invasive surgery and sports injuries. Rajesh Kakwani is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon practicing in the North East of England. He studied Undergraduate Medicine (MBBS) and completed a Masters Degree in Orthopaedics at Mumbai University, India.
He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.
Before he was appointed as a specialist foot and ankle surgeon in 2014, I undertook fellowships in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery in Bristol and Sheffield.
Since then he has led regional and national registrar teaching courses and been involved as a surgical trainer. Additionally, he has been actively involved in research and has published articles, case reports, and book chapters about foot and ankle surgery.
