Miss Laura Deriu has been a Children’s Orthopaedic Consultant at Leeds Children’s Hospital since 2015.Trauma consultant , Northern General Hospital, Sheffield
Beth is a trauma consultant at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. After graduating in 2010, she undertook her surgical and orthopaedic training in the Yorkshire and Humber deanery.
She has completed fellowships in both trauma & limb reconstruction, with particular focus on open fracture management and the Ilizarov method. Her routine clinical practice involves managing complex fractures, non-union, osteomyelitis and deformity correction.
Consultant adult and paediatric orthopaedic surgeon, Hull Royal Infirmary
Liz has been a consultant in Hull for more than a decade, her areas of specialism include paediatric and adult limb reconstruction with deformity correction, alongside trauma surgery and knee arthroplasty. It is an academic unit and she contributes to and coauthors research papers and articles, primarily in limb reconstruction.
She has always been keen to challenge the stereotype of the orthopaedic surgeon, and is proud to be asked to bring her hard vowels to conference.
She believes in kindness and professional behaviour, and takes pride in establishing an open, honest and productive working environment
Consultant Paediatric and Young Adult Hip Surgeon, Leeds General Infirmary
I trained as a young adult hip surgeon, with UK fellowship under Jon Conroy and International fellowship in Denmark under Professor Kjeld Soballe. I was appointed as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2014 at Leeds Teaching Hospitals with clinical activity including a purely paediatric trauma on call commitment alongside an elective Paediatric and Adult Hip practice.
I have been clinical lead for Paediatric Orthopaedics in Leeds alongside previous Sector Tutor for Trauma & Orthopaedics in Leeds. I am currently Clinical Director for Leeds Children’s Hospital.
Associate Specialist in adult and Paediatric Trauma & Limb Reconstruction , University Hospitals North Midlands
I have been an Associate Specialist in Trauma and Limb Reconstruction at University Hospitals North Midlands since 2016. My practice is predominantly adult trauma, but I also support my paediatric colleagues with trauma and limb reconstruction in children. I did limb reconstruction fellowships at both Bristol Royal Infirmary and Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon, University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff
Clare has been a Paediatric Orthopaedic consultant at the Noah's ark Children's Hospital for Wales in Cardiff, since 2012. There is no greater job satisfaction than the generality of paediatric orthopaedics and trauma, coupled with the reward of treating children. Cardiff has been a major trauma centre for children since September 2020.
She has been actively involved in education since a junior trainee and this has culminated in her appointment as Training Programme Director in August 2023 to the Welsh Deanery. A role which she finds a privilege and energising to constantly be in touch with training and the trainees.
Recently she has become a BSCOS committee member to try and contribute to the Paediatric Orthopaedic community across the UK.
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital
Anish has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, with an exclusively paediatric practice, for over 10 years. His clinical work includes special interests in the management of limb deformity and skeletal dysplasia.
He is currently a member of the Education Committee of the British Society of Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery, and faculty for the AO Paediatric Trauma group. He has recently been elected to the Board of The British Society for Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery.
In addition to his clinical work, he has a longstanding interest in Medical Education, at both under- and postgraduate levels. He has completed a Masters in Surgical Education with Distinction. He regularly teaches and assesses for Norwich Medical School. He has organised a number of regional and national educational events in Paediatric Orthopaedics, and has been invited faculty at a number of courses and national meetings.
He is Training Programme Director for East of England Specialty Training in Trauma & Orthopaedics, and the Paediatric Orthopaedic Lead for the Operational Delivery Network for Surgery in Children in East of England.
He has a number of presentations & publications (papers and book chapters) in a variety of areas including Children’s Orthopaedics and surgical training.
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool
Roger has 9 years experience as a full time children's orthopaedic surgeon at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool. He undertook fellowship in Auckland, New Zealand. He has lectured extensively at home and abroad on children's trauma, neuromuscular pathologies and gait analysis.

Daniel Perry MA(Oxon), PhD, FRCS (Orth) FRCS Ed (Ad Hominem) is an NIHR Research Professor, Consultant Children's Orthopaedic Surgeon at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and is the BOA Speciality Lead for Paediatric Orthopaedic Clinical Trials.
Dan trained in Liverpool and Warwick, before completing a fellowship at SickKids Hospital, Toronto, Canada. He is the first orthopaedic surgeon to have been awarded a prestigious NIHR Research Professorship.
Dan leads a large amount of research in children’s trauma, orthopaedics and emergencies – including orthopaedic studies - FORCE, SCIENCE, CRAFFT, BigBOSS, PICBONE, ODDSocks, OpNonSTOP, BASIS and even a trial in paediatrics about UTIs (CURLY)! His academic love is to make clinical research accessible – for children, parents and clinicians. He keenly integrates cartoons, animations, videos and uses text messages to make trials easy for everyone.
Dan is a member of the NIHR HTA General Board, is Orthopaedic trials lead for the Royal College of Surgeons, an Editor of the Bone and Joint Journal and is the clinical lead for hip screening within Public Health England.
