Medical Student Elective Bursaries

Applications for the 2025 Medical Student Elective Bursaries are now open!

Medical students are invited to submit an application for up to £500 to support an elective bursary in the field of Trauma & Orthopaedics during the during the elective window of February 2025 - January 2026.

The three successful applicants will receive the following:

• BOA-recognised certificate
• £500 towards the costs associated with the elective placement
• Guaranteed place at the T&O Careers Day (for medical students & FY doctors) at the BOA Annual Congress following the elective placement

How to Apply:

• Applications must be submitted by midnight on Friday February 28th to [email protected]
• The application must consist of the following in Word (.doc or .docx) format:
  • the completed application form
  • letter of confirmation from elective placement supervisor
  • supporting letter from your medical school confirming the elective placement
  • a completed Equality and Diversity Monitoring form
  • You must accept the Terms & Conditions of Bursary Award
• All documents should have your full name in the file name when submitted (e.g. 'JaneSmithCV.doc', 'JaneSmithTPDletter.doc' and 'JaneSmithApplication.doc').
• Please do not include personal contact details or other personal details such as date of birth, for data protection reasons.

Short online interviews for shortlisted candidates will be held (via video conference) on Wednesday 19th March 2025. You will need to be available on this date and timings will be confirmed around 2 weeks beforehand.
