The Bristol Hip Arthroplasty Course is a well known international hip meeting which was initiated by John Newman in the late 1980s. it has since grown in stature and reputation. It is now co-convened by Evert Smith, Anthony Ward, Richie Gill, Richard Baker, Mehool Acharya and Michael Whitehouse. It attracts a strong international faculty and is well known for its debates after each session. The conference aspires to improve current practice and promote clinical excellence as the faculty present their views on issues valid to a hip practice including outcomes, new procedures, materials, bearing surfaces, design, primary and revision hip replacement and their complications. This years Bristol / Oxford Group Meeting moves back to Bristol and will take place in the Heineken Suite at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol. Our expert faculty panel will be approaching topics such as the role of UKR’s in treating conditions such as medial OA whilst considering implant balancing and soft tissue balancing. We will take a look at the many different robots available to aid in surgery and examine complex case studies bought forward by faculty and delegates alike. As with 2024 the lower limb symposium will run on Wednesday 26th November and delegates are invited to join for this event to learn about the effectiveness of physiotherapy and working as a multi-disciplinary team.

This meeting will provide lectures and hands-on training for the majority of the soft tissue knee injuries, with cadaveric specimens. A strong faculty consisting of expert surgeons working in RJAH Knee firm will stimulate discussion and teach the delegates in an anatomy lab environment.

This course is suitable for post-CCT surgeons on fellowship, surgeons in locum consultant posts, consultants within 3 years of appointment and surgeons in autonomous practice (e.g Specialist Doctors). A 1.5-day course, the £95 course fee includes accomodation and course dinner.

Provide delegates with a basic understanding of the surgical principles of lower limb arthroplasty with a combination of lectures and case-based discussion. • Provide delegates with an opportunity to practice technical aspects of simulated lower limb arthroplasty with supervision and real-time feedback.

This course teaches fundamental principles and current concepts in the treatment of patients with a need for primary arthroplasty in the hip and knee. The course is the initial step along the path of lifelong learning in the area of joint arthroplasty. Based on a patient-centered approach this course focuses on the key principles of primary arthroplasty, and is targeted at newly certified orthopedic surgeons and advanced orthopedic surgical trainees.

This conference focuses on falls prevention and management in older people with a focus on ensuring effective and resilient falls prevention activity. The conference will update delegates on the April 2025 NICE Guidance update: Falls: assessment and prevention in older people and people 50 and over at higher risk, the World Guidelines for Falls Prevention and Management in Older Adults and highlight best practice through case studies. Sessions throughout the day will focus on activity and falls, developing and effective falls prevention programme, understanding human factors in falls prevention, improving falls education and awareness, effective personalised multidisciplinary assessment including the new MASA tool, falls and mental health including delirium prevention and managing the psychological impact of falling, medication management and improving secondary prevention. The conference will also discuss key elements in the reduction of falls in your service including strength, balance and exercise promotion, managing underlying health issues, developing personalized falls prevention care plans, and frailty presenting as falls. The conference will also update delegates on national requirements for falls investigation and learning under the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF)
